Food Safety Regulators(CFDA) Leadership Study Tour

Purpose/Goals:  
The China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) desires to achieve its 2017 International Cooperation goals and the State Council's 2016-2019 Food Safety Plan. CFDA wants to understand the operations of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) at the state and federal level to get new ideas about how to structure and revise their own regulations across the whole agriculture and food chain in China.
This study tour presents a unique platform for U.S. associations and companies. This is the first time a group of high level delegates from a critical ministry in China will be hosted by the U.S. With continuous communication w/Chinese food safety regulators, and support from the U.S. government, U.S. associations and companies have the opportunity to:
• Be involved in the process of building social governance of food safety in China
• Coordinate ongoing communication on the key topics  
• Build relationships, corporate image with senior Chinese food safety regulators  
 
Program Overview:  
With the support of the U.S. Trade Development Association (USTDA), this 2-week training program will bring together 24 senior executives from all key food safety divisions of CFDA. Delegates will meet with public and private sector experts for food safety and regulation. Program activities include a one week classroom training in Washington D.C. and a one week site visit and roundtable discussion with relevant U.S. government and industry stakeholders in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
 
Expected Program Outcomes:  
• Greater awareness and knowledge of U.S./China food safety systems and regulations
• Analysis of current challenges and potential solutions
• Influencing new ideas and strengthening partnerships
