The 2016 Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade

On November 23, 2016 (local time), the 27th China-US Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT) was held in Washington DC from November 21 to 23. Vice Premier Wang Yang, Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker of the US and Michael Froman, Trade Representative of the US co-chaired the meeting. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack of the US attended the meeting.

China and the United States pledged to enhance their agricultural cooperation, during the China-US Agriculture and Food Seminar held in Washington DC on Tuesday, November 22.

In terms of outcome and impact, the event was a remarkable success and accomplished several milestone steps in strengthening the cooperative programs between public and private sectors in both countries, enhancing collaboration and dialogue between U.S. and China Food Safety Cooperation, and building more effective systems for food safety in China with their U.S. counterparts, and to meet international norms.
